What we going to do?

We want to know about IT...” is instructional youth project about reproductive health and healthy lifestyle.


Having regard to reproductive health problems of the Georgian and Latvian youngsters - are still large numbers of abortions and the fact that reproductive health issues in schools and society are still subjects of which are reluctant to speak, we contacted the young people in Georgia and Latvia who stated that there are very weak or no knowledge of sexually reproductive health and want to participate in youth meetings, during which they can meet other young people and to debate and discuss current events in their countries and issues of reproductive health field, looking for alternative solutions and creative ideas on how to change current attitudes and education and lack of information.


The project main aim is to promote the Georgian and Latvian youth - peer trainers, make their active participation of youth education on reproductive health and a healthy lifestyle, as well as to encourage young people's rights to sexual and reproductive health services, contraceptives and information availability.

Georgia’s and Latvia’s difference of traditions, mentality and culture made this project more interesting for exchange participants. 16 participants, who are in such age, when they should be more informed about reproductive health, contraception, sexual relationships, healthy lifestyle, met each other in Cēsis, Latvia and had discussions, workshops about these themes. The project promoted cooperation between different social risks, a culture among young people and social cohesion between the partners. They shared experiences about actualities and problems between their countries with the aim to find solutions and new ideas, to change prejudices and previous attitude. Young people - peer educators was invited in networking for youth and community participation in mentioned fields. As well as networking - "Transfer of Good Practice" by the Latvian and Georgian young people - peer educators.


Project’s purpose is not only to educate participants, but also to cut down lack of information for other young people, therefore participants’ worked result as informative materials will be set through short films, brochures, Forum theater and LOESJE posters*, which was made during the exchange - coming soon!!!!


*Posters LOESJE - Loesje is an international free speech organisation started in Arnhem (Netherlands) in 1983. Its charter is to spread creativity, positive criticism, ideas, philosophical ponderings and thoughts on current events by way of short slogans on posters, signed by a fictional character, Loesje (a Dutch female name).
